Passenger traffic at the Murtala Muhammed Airport recorded a marginal growth of 6.6 percent in 2019, with no fewer than 7.3 million passengers using the busiest airport. The South West Airports’ manager of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Victoria Shin-Aba, yesterday disclosed this with assurance of additional upswing when the new terminal comes upstream.
2019 saw over half a million new traffic compared to 2018 that had a total of 6.8 million passengers. Aircraft movement also rose by 5.2 percent, as 96,373 were recorded in 2019 compared 91, 621 in 2018.The marginal increase has shown indication of overall growth in passenger traffic in both the local and international sections nationwide. The industry recorded 18 million passengers in 2018.
